Hi Livingstone Community,
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. We have an update, sorry another long one, to inform you about a couple of key dates and events. PAC Meeting Our second PAC meeting of the year was this past Wednesday and the minutes can be found here. If you have any questions/comments please email us at [email protected]. Our next PAC meeting will be Wednesday November 15th. Fall Fund ‘Tech’ Drive – Starts Monday October 23 Our biggest fundraiser of the year is upon us, and we hope you can participate. The goal is to raise $20,000 for the school which with 277 kids at the school nets out to approximately $70-75 per kid. We recognize this dollar amount may seem jarring in this economic climate. Our overall goal is to raise funds as a community, and not to pressure individuals or families. Please give what you can! This year we are focusing on technology upgrades within the classrooms and to fund the literacy programs teachers rely on. Here’s what we can do together for our kids... * Keep our kids up to date: upgrade 30 iPads for in-class learning * Provide teachers with classroom supplies and books * Offer exciting in-school experiences and field trips Please check your children’s bags on Monday! Diwali Celebration – Wednesday, November 15 The purpose of the newly formed PAC Diversity Committee is to showcase and educate our community on the wide variety of holidays that are celebrated by the families at Livingstone. This PAC funded parent-driven initiative is available to any parent willing to take the lead and showcase their celebrations. Our Diwali Celebration will include: * Cooking demonstration with our Fun Lunch partner Agra Tandoori * School-wide Rangoli creation * Traditional Mendhi and Diyva making * A treat that will be sent home with each student Family Dance - Thursday, November 30 --- SAVE THE DATE --- DJ Rachael is ready to bring families onto their feet! Full details including time, theme and ticketing will be announced soon! Volunteers are needed to make this event a success, please sign up here. Fun Lunch Volunteers Needed To keep our Fun Lunch program going strong, we need some assistance with distribution. This is a 15-20 minute time commitment to help with distribution to the classrooms. All lunches are divided by class by the vendors, come by and say ‘Hello’ to your child! Their faces light up when they see their parent at the school in the middle of the day! And we also want to thank the parents who have volunteered their time so far. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these, please sign up here. Livingstone Soiree Save-the-date for the Livingstone ‘soiree’: February 3, 2024 at Heritage Hall. This will be a fun night for parents to meet and mingle (this is a kid free event 😊).

We are looking for a parent to take over organizing this event next year (our current organizer will be leaving Livingstone at the end of 2023-24). The ask for this year is to be a helper and learn the ropes. Most of the organizing is already done - forms are made, plans are in place - it’s really just making some updates and getting everything organized on the day. We promise to make it easy and as minimal a time commitment as possible and the current organizer will be on hand to help (just not lead) next year. Interested? Please contact [email protected]. Go to the link, buy some chocolates, 25% of the proceeds get donated to the David Livingstone PAC. Giant boxes of chocolates will be delivered to the school and volunteers will pack up the individual orders. How do I get my chocolates? We will be delivering the chocolates to classes on Dec. 6. If you have multiple children, you may want to have them delivered to the one that is least likely to forget them at school. Can friends and family buy chocolates too? Of course! Just send them the link. You will need to: (1) let them know the name/division of the student that the chocolates need to be delivered to OR place the order for them. (2) get the chocolates from the school on Dec. 6, (3) deliver them to your friends/family. The PAC will pack up the chocolates with the rest of your order and send them home with the David Livingstone student. Do we need any volunteers? Yes! We will be packing up and delivering the chocolates on Dec. 6 and will need some help to do that. Please contact Reiko [email protected] if you’re interested. |
