East Van Soiree - Tickets on sale now

The third annual East Van Soiree will take place on February 29, 2020 at Heritage Hall on Main Street.

This event is jointly held with General Brock Elementary to raise funds for our PACs. Last year's event raised approximately $23,000 for our schools. It's also a great night to spend time with other parents in our community! If you have never attended or are new to the school, the event has a champagne reception, a silent auction (which includes ceramics created by each division at our school), a raffle, a bar, and music by DJ Rocky for dancing. There are 100 tickets allocated to our school. If you purchase before December 31, tickets are $45 and include one drink ticket. As of January 1, tickets are $50 with no drink ticket. Div 1 & 2 Poinsettia Fundraiser - Deadline December 1st.

Div 1 & 2 are heading to Whitehorse and Dawson City this spring. After studying agriculture and food security issues all year, students will travel north to explore Arctic food security and the impact of climate change as a capstone experience. Students will work with the Tr’ondek Hewch’in First Nations in Dawson City, and Elemental Farm and Poplar Farms in Whitehorse, to see and experience northern agriculture first hand.

We are selling beautiful, locally-grown plants to help raise money for their trip. Please visit our WEBSITE to see what is available and then place your order by Dec. 1st. Plants can be picked up on December 13, 2019, between 3 and 5pm.

This year, spread holiday cheer and support our grade 6 and 7 students on this trip of a lifetime.

Guest Speakers at PAC meeting - VSB Trustee and Seismic Update

We will have two guest speakers at our November 20, 2019 PAC meeting including the addition of a District Principal to provide an update on the seismic mitigation program plans for Livingstone and our VSB Trustee representative.

Speakers:
- Michael Rossi, District Principal- Educational Planning
- Carmen Cho, VSB Trustee

Please note, we're adjusting our agenda slightly to accommodate questions and the extra time. It is possible that the meeting will run slightly late. The meeting will start at 7:00pm in the library (unless a larger space is needed, in which case check the gym).

The Fall Fund Drive will wrap up Tuesday, November 12th

We're just over 50% of our goal...so if you're able to donate it would go a long way to help provide opportunities for our kids over the school year.

Funds raised this year will go to support experiences for students in our school - Nearly 45% ($34K) of our PAC budget is currently allocated to provide student experiences. Including arts performances, week-long lessons (like CirKids and Hip Hop), in-class experiential learning ($270/division), supplementing field trip costs ($400/division), books for our library and outdoor learning. Thanks so much in advance for the support.

We'll share the total raised at the November 20th PAC meeting. We'll also reach out to all that contributed to share where funds will be directed.Tax receipts will be issued at time of donation.

November 20 PAC Meeting - Guest Speaker

Our school board trustee, Carmen Cho, will be joining us at our PAC meeting on Wednesday, November 20th. She'll have about 30 minutes near the beginning of the meeting to talk about topics we're interested in learning more about. We've agreed to give her any questions/topics a week in advance so she can come ready.

If there is anything you'd like covered please email [email protected] by November 12th. Seismic upgrade is already on the list. Hopefully you can join us. If not the content will be captured in the minutes.

We'll also be doing the draw for the PAC meeting attendance incentive - a Pizza Party for your child's division and 4 front row seats at the holiday concert that night. All parents that attend the November 20th meeting will get ballots to enter the draw.

Meetings are held in the school library from 7:00 - approx. 8:30pm and free childminding is provided.

Cards for David Livingstone’s Annual Fall Fund Drive were sent home this week. Unfortunately the cards have the wrong link printed on them, the correct info is below.

Our Fund Drive is an annual PAC fundraiser that helps fund experiences to enrich our children's learning and support our school goals. Nearly 45% ($34K) of our PAC budget is currently allocated to provide student experiences. Some experiences include: arts performances, week-long lessons for the school, guest speakers, field trips and in-class workshops.
